Shingles is a viral infection that causes a painful rash. It can occur anywhere on the body. Typically it looks like a single stripe of blisters that wraps around one side of your torso.
It is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox.
Shingles isn't life threatening but it can be very painful. Early intervention may shorten the shingles infection and lessen the chance of complications.
